Sprain
  • a stretching or tearing of a ligament
  • often occur during sports or recreational
    activities
  • occur in both the upper and lower parts of the
    body, but the ankle is the most common
  • pain
  • swelling
  • bruising
  • loss of ability to use the joint
Strain
  • twisting or pulling of a muscle or tendon
  • acute strain caused by a trauma or injury, or by
    improperly lifting objects, or overstressing the
    muscles
  • chronic strain is usually the result of overuse,
    prolonged repetitive motion of the muscles
    and tendons
  • pain muscle spasm, muscle weakness
  • localized swelling/inflammation
  • cramping
  • possible some loss of function
