Very soft surfaces (sand)
Improper footwear
Rapid change in activity level
Weight gain
Adjusting any foot subluxations (especially navicular and the first MTP joint) and strengthening the foot-support musculature is necessary. Myofascial release couple with ultrasound is often helpful.
