Tension Headache
Common Conditions - Headaches - Tension
Seen in approximately 40% of the population. For this type of headache you must have
at least 10 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes to 7 days and fewer than 15 days per
month.  Often they transform into chronic daily headaches, which may become very
difficult to treat is common.

Pain characteristics:
  • have a pressing or tightening quality,
  • dull achy, hat band or vice like
  • mild to moderate intensity (may inhibit but does not prohibit activity)
  • commonly occurs on both sides of the head
  • not aggravated by physical activities
  • not accompanied by nausea or vomiting
  • Light or noise sensitivity is absent or one but not the other is present.

Tension Headaches require extensive evaluation.

Treatments:

  • Specific Stretching
  • Neck Pillow
  • Muscle Energy Techniques
  • Electric Muscle Stimulation
  • Supplementation (depends on the patient)

  • Ergonomic Evaluation
